Cat Leash Training
If you like to be
able to walk your cat in a leash you should start leash training it. Don’t expect your cat to just like the leash and run around like a
dog. He will more likely follow along behind you.
Cat leash training is
quiet simple and the younger your cat is the easier it is to teach it.
First you need to get your
cat used to wear the harness. Have your cat wearing the harness indoors a little while each day for about a week and encourage him or her with
a reward.
After a week has passed you
connect the leash to the harness and let him or her walk around the house with the leash dragging behind. Do this every day for a short time
until the cat is used to the weight and feel of it. Now you can start walking the cat in the leash inside the house. Let the cat decide where to go but hold on to the leash.
When the cat feels comfortable walking around like that take him or her out in the yard. If the cat is scared let it back inside and wait a
bit longer. If the cat enjoys walking around you can try taking it to other places as well. The
cat will move very slowly and carefully investigate everything so give it time to get used. After awhile the cat will be more daring and you
can take it with you anywhere. I told you cat leash training would be simple.
